The 13th Annual Surplus Lines Insurance Symposium hosted by Troy University in Troy, Alabama was held on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3, 2007. Students from universities around the country attended and enjoyed the opportunity to network with industry professionals as well as other students.
The Katie School sponsored two students to the Symposium and covered the cost of registration, transportation, lodging, and meals.

The symposium began Friday evening November 2, 2007 with a reception and NAPSLO Internship Presentation by Jonathan McKenzie, Broker for Cooper Gay RIsk Services, Inc.
Following his presentation, there was a panel of NAPSLO interns past and present answering pertinent questions regarding their NAPSLO internship experiences and answer questions from the audience.
Educational sessions began at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 with a host of presenters and topics.
This symposium meets several objectives, including:
Allowing students to interact with insurance students from other schools. It serves to introduce students to the surplus lines industry.
Gives industry executives an opportunity to meet bright, interested students of insurance for possible jobs or internships.
