NAPSLO Symposium

On March 25-26, 2011, for the first time the Katie School of Insurance and Gamma Iota Sigma hosted the 8th National Assocation of Professional Surplus Lines Offices Symposium at the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Chicago. Industry professionals and students from 6 universities across the country participated in "Extreme Risk Takers VIII" weekend event. This event is sponsored by Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation.

Events of the Symposium

  • Educational sessions with various presenters and topics within the surplus lines industry
  • Dinner boat cruise aboard Odyssey II on Lake Michigan
  • Other lunches and dinners in downtown Chicago

 

Objectives of the Symposium

  • Introduce college undergraduates to the surplus lines industry
  • Student interaction with other insurance students from different schools
  • Create networking opportunities with industry executives and other students to build relationships for the future
