Meeting the Challenge of the Future: Core Skills for the Finance Executive
The Aims of the Course
- To promote relationships between academics and market practitioners from the United States and the Lloyd's community.
- To provide an opportunity for practitioners from the United States and Lloyd's to participate in a high-level academic study tour.
- To explore a number of business and management techniques and strategies currently available to the insurance industry.
- To enable delegates to appreciate the advantages to be gained from the information revolution, and the creation of knowledge creating organization and community.
Teaching Methodology
Teaching will be by lectures, which, in some cases, will involve work to be carried out by participants in syndicates.
Some preliminary work will be required. This will involve recommended books and papers.
Participants
The maximum number of participants will be three from the United States and from the Lloyd's community. Participants will be at a managerial or senior executive level.
Venue
We have selected Brasenose College, Oxford, where participants may enjoy the historical surroundings, cloisters and quads of this traditional Oxford College, which was founded in the 13th Century, and at the same time benefit from the first class conference facilities.
One day of the course will be held in Lloyd's, and will include a tour of the building including the trading floor.
Course Materials
All course materials will be supplied. These will include books and articles, which are recommended or required reading.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be in the College and at the Swan Diplomat Hotel

£2,450 or $4,000
